ADVICE SERVICES IN ELEMENTARY, SECONDARY & TRETIARY LEVEL

GUIDANCE SERVICES IN FUNDAMENTAL
The elementary school counsellor provides the requirements of all elementary students, to help them develop, academically, socially and emotionally. The school counsellor's function is constantly changing, reflecting the needs of many people inside our school community; children, father and mother, teachers, and administrators. Many different services are provided: Guidance Lessons
The general guidance program is child-centred and developing - thinks the characteristics and needs of each age and quality level. The curriculum motivates students to: - develop positive self-image
- become more aware of the relationships between themselves and others - recognize their own needs and goals
Individual Counselling Services
Elementary school counsellors meet singularly with learners to provide support for school-related issues. The counselling strategies vary with each student's needs and they are provided over a short-term basis as dependant upon the school counsellor. Students may refer themselves to the counsellor or could be referred simply by parents, educators, or various other school personnel. Group Coaching Services
Grammar school counsellors meet with small sets of students on various topics. Topics will be determined by the children's needs and interests. Consultation
College counsellors, parents, and educators work together to support children. Elementary school counsellors use parents:
-- to exchange and gather info
-- to provide advice; and
- to discuss parenting concerns
Elementary school counsellors assist teachers, managers, and other staff: - to supply information, materials and recommendation assistance - to address student needs, specifically within the Training Support Team (IST); and - in promoting a positive learning environment.
