" I are as proud as you are. I am as proud because you are. ” Dickens is an intrusive narrator who comments on the heroes through their dialogues and thoughts. Every aesthetics and fancies were considered " nonsense”, and the invention of various machines provided man the sense that he had managed nature. This kind of led to an expanding pride in the abilities of men, and divine concours were relegated to fairy-tales which the children were not allowed to read as they were as well " fanciful”. Religion started to be devoid of purpose of purpose and was involved in boredom and commodification. Dickens through Bounderby's satisfaction is his pride laments this down-gradation of God. As Bounderby's name implies, he is destined by his class and convictions in his own superiority. He displays no compassion for the indegent, even though he himself features experienced poverty, and instead insults their talents by declaring " what I can perform, you can do”.
