Self-discovery is the thought of understanding or knowledge of one self. Discovering personality is a thing that most people face at some point within their lives plus the outcome may varies. Self-discovery usually happens during age of puberty. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and The Baseball catchers in the Rye are both types of coming of age novels. The main characters, Huckleberry Finn and Holden Caulfield, both have the journey of self-discovery. These kinds of experiences bring about their knowing of identity. Huck is trying to discover a purpose, and an identification through conflicting of morals, while Holden is a teenager struggling to find maturity going into member. Although Huck and Holden come from several time periods and backgrounds, they are excluded via society and are united in their struggle against understanding cultural values. Holden, a 17 year old surrounded by topics just like sex, alcoholic beverages, and growing up in the urban traditions of the 1940s. However , Holden's identity is different from individuals around him because he decides not to agree to the views and tips that encircle him and instead, lives on his own opinions of what is important. This is proven by simply his inability to stay in institution, his clashes with adult authority provides an example to get his isolation from culture. Whereas Huckleberry Finn can be described as product from the 18th hundred years where captivity is a terrible issue. Huck's perception on the planet he comes from causes him to problem his contemporary society and the adults who make an attempt to mold him.
